HALLWAY: BEFORE AND AFTER

Last Sunday I was sitting on the sofa (rare for me), bored (even more rare), when I noticed the walls in the hallway leading from the front to the back of the house.  Bare and boring, yet an area that sits right in the middle of the first floor of our house.  How was it overlooked for so long!?!  So down to the basement I went...found some Frog tape, paint, and a laser level, and this is what transpired.... (the photos are not the best, it was a challenge to get a decent angle to photograph from!)

BEFORE:
(the walls color is Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore, although it looks a lot lighter in the pictures then it really is)

hallway view from the family room in the back of the house

view from the family room to the front door

yep...stripes
I used a laser level to make a straight line then taped it.. then I used a traditional level after the tape was up to double check the lines were straight

first coat of White Dove by Benjamin Moore (can you hear the Jeopardy song right now, I have no patience waiting for paint to dry!)

AFTER:

I like the combo of the stripes with the floral wallpaper

ahhh.... much better!

  29. I'm sooooo jealous!! I tried stripes in my front entryway. First, I removed about 4 layers of wallpaper, then I retextured. 4 hours later the walls were dry, time to paint stripes! Taped, primed, painted. Have I mentioned this was an ALLLLLLL day event?? Pulled the tape off and my newly textured walls came off in chunks. SAD face!! Turns out I should have let the texture dry for 24 hours. Oops. I've been gun shy since. Of course, mine were going to be gray and white, which is why I'm SOOOOOO jealous of yours ;)

Anyway, enough about me. This is BEAUTIFUL!! I love your pretty home! Thanks for sharing at my party! :)

  37. I LOVE the combo of the stripes and the floral wallpaper. Such a perfect contrast of modern and pretty.

I'm actually looking to do stripes just like these in my laundry room, but it will be considerably more annoying because there's lots of stuff (you know...washing machines, etc.) in the way.

Thanks for the inspiration just the same!

I'd love it if you'd link your lovely wall treatment up at my Feature Friday Linky Party (it's going on right now, but if you prefer to link when it's fresh, it usually goes live Thursday evening).

    P.S. I'm a new follower! : )
